We are seeking a senior-level Associate Vice President – Bridge Inspection Practice Lead to lead and expand a regional Bridge Inspection practice across NY and NJ.
This is not a back-office oversight role. This is a market-facing leadership position responsible for technical excellence, agency relationships, team development, and strategic growth. You will oversee major inspection programs, mentor inspection staff, and strengthen relationships with key transportation agencies — particularly NYCDOT.

Leadership Responsibilities

Lead and grow the regional Bridge Inspection practice

Develop and maintain strong relationships with NYCDOT and other key agencies

Drive business development efforts, proposal strategy, and pursuits

Mentor and develop bridge inspectors and engineers
-
Oversee staffing plans, project assignments, and performance reviews

Track and manage project financials and revenue forecasts (monthly and quarterly)

Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional associations
Technical Responsibilities

Manage and oversee NBIS bridge inspection programs
-
Ensure compliance with FHWA and applicable city/state DOT requirements

Supervise field teams and perform QA/QC on inspection reports

Serve as Team Leader on select projects, including:

Provide technical recommendations related to structural condition, maintenance, and rehabilitation

Coordinate with local, state, and regional transportation agencies

Support integration of inspection data into asset management systems

Ensure adherence to AASHTO and AASHTOWare Bridge Management protocols
Qualifications

B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering
-
12+ years of progressive bridge inspection/structural experience
-
Minimum 5 years of recent experience as a Bridge Inspection Team Leader

New York PE required (NJ PE a plus)

Active FHWA/NHI Bridge Inspection Training Certification (2-week course and/or refresher required at time of hire)

Direct experience with NYCDOT bridge inspection programs (NYSDOT and NJDOT preferred)

Familiarity with agencies such as TBTA, PANYNJ, NYCT, LIRR preferred

Physically capable of working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and access equipment

Strong knowledge of NBIS requirements

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Proven ability to mentor staff and manage large-scale inspection programs
