AVP - Bridge Engineering

A leading multidisciplinary engineering and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking an Associate Vice President – Bridge Structural Lead to help drive the growth of its transportation and bridge practice across New Jersey.

This is a rare opportunity for a senior bridge engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with business development and leadership capabilities. You'll play a key role in expanding relationships with major transportation agencies while leading complex bridge projects and building a high-performing local team.

The Opportunity

As the Bridge Structural Lead, you will serve as both a client-facing leader and technical authority, helping to strengthen and expand the firm's presence throughout New Jersey. Working closely with established bridge and transportation teams across the Northeast, you'll have the platform, resources, and support needed to grow a successful regional practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with NJDOT, NJTA, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, counties, and municipalities
  • Lead business development efforts including proposals, presentations, teaming strategies, and client engagement
  • Manage and deliver bridge design, rehabilitation, inspection, and load rating projects
  • Serve as Project Manager and Technical Lead on transportation structures projects
  • Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, and client communications
  • Provide technical oversight and QA/QC of structural deliverables
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across structural, civil, architecture, and MEP disciplines
  • Mentor, develop, and grow bridge engineering staff within New Jersey
  • Support existing agency contracts and pursue new opportunities
  • Represent the firm at industry events and professional organizations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • PE License in New Jersey required
  • 15+ years of bridge and transportation structural engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of NJDOT standards and procedures
  • Experience with bridge design, rehabilitation, inspections, and load ratings
  • Proven success developing client relationships and winning work
  • Strong project management and team leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
