Overview
An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Vice President – Bridge Structural Lead to establish and grow its bridge engineering presence across New England. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior bridge engineering professional looking to combine technical leadership, project delivery, client development, and team growth while working alongside a well-established Northeast transportation practice.
The successful candidate will lead major bridge and transportation infrastructure projects, strengthen relationships with public sector clients including MassDOT, MBTA, and municipalities, and play a key role in expanding the firm's regional bridge practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of bridge and structural transportation projects from planning through construction support.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, quality, and client communications.
- Act as the technical lead for bridge, transportation, and structural infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with MassDOT, MBTA, municipal agencies, and other public-sector clients.
- Support business development, proposal preparation, and strategic pursuits across New England.
- Identify new opportunities and help grow the regional bridge engineering practice.
- Perform technical oversight and QA/QC reviews for engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across structural, civil, transportation, architecture, and MEP disciplines.
- Mentor junior engineers and support the continued growth of the local team.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Massachusetts (additional New England licences are advantageous).
- 15+ years of bridge and structural engineering experience.
- Strong background delivering bridge and transportation projects for MassDOT, MBTA, and municipal agencies.
- Proven project management experience with responsibility for budgets, schedules, technical delivery, and client satisfaction.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Business development and client relationship experience with a seller-doer mindset is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of bridge design, rehabilitation, inspections, load ratings, and transportation infrastructure.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
