Project Designer – Water/Wastewater Engineer

About the Opportunity
A growing multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm is seeking a motivated Project Designer – Water/Wastewater Engineer to join its team serving clients throughout the Dutch Region of Pennsylvania.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for a civil or environmental engineer with experience in water, wastewater, or municipal infrastructure who is looking to take on meaningful projects and continue developing technically and professionally.
 
The position will support a variety of municipal and private-sector water and wastewater initiatives, including system planning, infrastructure evaluation, hydraulic analysis, engineering design, and capital improvement projects.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Support long-term water and wastewater system planning and infrastructure improvement programs.
  • Perform system capacity evaluations for water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
  • Assist with hydraulic modeling and analysis to evaluate existing and future system conditions.
  • Evaluate infrastructure capacity, condition, reliability, resiliency, and operational performance.
  • Identify system deficiencies and assist in developing cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Prepare engineering plans, calculations, technical reports, specifications, exhibits, and project documentation.
  • Support water and wastewater master planning and capital improvement planning efforts.
  • Assist with the design of pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, treatment-related infrastructure, and other municipal improvements.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, condition assessments, and infrastructure evaluations.
  • Assist with permitting and coordination with applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, municipal clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support asset management and infrastructure planning initiatives.
  • Manage multiple assignments while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of engineering or design experience, preferably involving water, wastewater, municipal, or water resources projects.
  • EIT certification preferred; P.E. license is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic modeling software is highly desirable.
  • GIS experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure and applicable Pennsylvania environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a project team.
