White Plains / New York City, NY
I’m working with a growing structural engineering consultancy in the New York area that is looking to add an experienced Revit Modeler / BIM Technician to its structural team.
This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical and modeling side of structural engineering and wants exposure to a genuinely varied mix of projects, rather than producing the same type of drawings every week.
The firm works across new construction, renovations, adaptive reuse and historic restoration, with projects ranging from high-end residential buildings through to multifamily and commercial structures.
The Role
You’ll work closely with Structural Engineers and Project Managers to develop coordinated structural models and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
Typical responsibilities will include:
-
Developing structural Revit models from engineering and architectural information
-
Producing structural framing plans, sections, details and construction documents
-
Working across steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures
-
Coordinating structural models with architectural and other consultant drawings
-
Updating models and drawings throughout the design and construction process
-
Supporting projects involving new construction, renovations and existing buildings
-
Assisting engineers with drawing production and project documentation
-
Maintaining strong BIM and drafting standards across multiple projects
What They’re Looking For
Ideally, you’ll have:
-
Professional experience using Revit within structural engineering or building design
-
Strong understanding of structural drawings and construction documentation
-
Experience with AutoCAD
-
Exposure to building structures rather than solely civil/infrastructure projects
-
Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing packages
-
Experience working alongside Structural Engineers and Architects
-
Previous experience with renovation or existing-building projects would be particularly useful
Why Consider It?
The biggest attraction here is the variety and technical quality of the work. You could be modeling a new building on one project and helping an engineering team figure out how to renovate or adapt an existing or historic structure on the next.
You’ll also be joining an established structural engineering team where Revit/BIM is part of the engineering process, rather than simply a production function.
If you’re a Revit Modeler, BIM Technician, Structural Drafter or CAD/BIM Technician in the NYC/Westchester market and would like to hear more, get in touch with me for a confidential conversation.
