Senior Building Enclosure Engineer

We are partnered with a growing multidisciplinary consulting firm in the Manassas area that is looking to add a Senior Building Enclosure Engineer to support the continued growth of its building envelope and restoration practice.

This is an opportunity to join an established team working on a diverse range of projects involving roofing systems, waterproofing, façade assessments, exterior wall systems, condition assessments, and rehabilitation projects across commercial, institutional, government, education, and mixed-use facilities.

The position offers significant client exposure, project ownership, and the opportunity to play a key role in the continued expansion of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead building enclosure investigations and condition assessments.
  • Evaluate roofing, waterproofing, façade, and exterior wall systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, repair recommendations, and construction documents.
  • Perform field investigations and site observations.
  • Support litigation, forensic investigations, and failure analysis efforts when required.
  • Manage projects from proposal through closeout.
  • Coordinate directly with owners, architects, contractors, and consultants.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Support business development efforts and maintain client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • PE License required.
  • 5+ years of experience within building enclosure, roofing, waterproofing, restoration, or façade consulting.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and repair documents.
  • Strong understanding of roofing assemblies, waterproofing systems, air barriers, and exterior wall systems.
  • Experience with field investigations and construction administration activities.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.

  • ASTM testing and building envelope standards familiarity.
