Our recruitment team has partnered with a respected multi‑discipline architecture/engineering firm to identify an experienced Project Engineer for their growing civil/site engineering department in Buffalo. This role offers you the chance to lead diverse civil and site projects across New York State—spanning commercial, industrial, municipal, academic, institutional and residential developments—while shaping the direction of the department and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Independently develop and oversee site plans, traffic circulation layouts, roadways, parking lots, utilities, grading and drainage systems, watershed models and design calculations.

Delegate tasks to junior staff, and review plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for accuracy and completeness.

Perform technical and quality reviews of design work in accordance with company and client standards, and serve as Engineer of Record for projects under your supervision.

Coordinate with internal teams, clients and government agencies to secure permits and approvals, and conduct project investigations or construction support across New York State.
Your Background

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.

At least six years of site design experience (eight to ten years preferred) and a New York State PE license.

Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and watershed modelling/hydrology tools (TR‑55, TR‑20, HydroCAD, Hydraflow Express or similar).

Demonstrated experience with NYS stormwater management and erosion/sediment control requirements, including SWPPP preparation and inspections, as well as local SEQR and environmental assessment processes.

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; able to manage multiple assignments and mentor junior staff.

Knowledge of local utility standards; certifications such as CPESC, LEED AP or ENV SP are advantageous.

Previous experience in a multi‑discipline A/E environment and a valid driver’s licence are required.
