Team Lead - Transportation

An established and growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineering Project Manager to join its Highway & Bridge team in Wall Township, NJ.

This is a senior-level opportunity to lead complex transportation and bridge infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey, working with clients including NJDOT, transportation authorities, counties, and municipalities.

The successful candidate will combine hands-on project management and technical leadership with client relationship development, team mentorship, and business development. Projects will include bridge rehabilitation and replacement, highway and roadway improvements, structural rehabilitation, and other major transportation infrastructure assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead transportation and bridge projects from planning and preliminary engineering through final design and construction support.
  • Manage bridge rehabilitation, replacement, roadway, highway, and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across bridge, roadway, traffic, geotechnical, environmental, and water resources disciplines.
  • Serve as a primary client contact for NJDOT, counties, municipalities, transportation authorities, and other public agencies.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, QA/QC, and client expectations.
  • Oversee preparation of plans, specifications, calculations, reports, cost estimates, and construction documents.
  • Provide technical leadership on bridge, structural, and transportation engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and resolve technical and project delivery challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with NJDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, and applicable local and federal standards.
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, inspections, and structural assessments as required.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support their technical and professional development.
  • Support proposals, scope and fee development, client presentations, and project interviews.
  • Develop existing client relationships and identify opportunities for new work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New Jersey PE preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • 12+ years of transportation, bridge, structural, or infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Proven experience managing complex transportation and/or bridge engineering projects.
  • Experience with bridge rehabilitation, replacement, roadway improvements, and transportation infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, QA/QC, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of NJDOT and AASHTO design standards.
  • Experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong client-facing, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers.
  • Business development, proposal, and client presentation experience preferred.
