Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to lead and support transportation infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey.

This role is ideal for a seasoned transportation professional with strong project management and technical experience who can lead multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and deliver projects from planning and concept development through final design and construction.

The successful candidate will work closely with civil, structural, traffic, and other engineering disciplines while supporting public-sector transportation clients and agency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage transportation projects from planning and design through construction.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, agencies, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing, and deliverables.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, surveyors, and consultants.
  • Oversee preparation and review of roadway, bridge, drainage, traffic, utility, and infrastructure plans.
  • Coordinate with NJDOT, NJTA, NYSDOT, and other local, county, and state agencies.
  • Manage project permitting, agency reviews, and responses to technical comments.
  • Provide technical oversight and ensure quality control of project deliverables.
  • Support construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, field issues, and client coordination.
  • Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, budget, and project risks.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff.
  • Support proposals, presentations, client development, and new project pursuits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 8–20+ years of transportation engineering/project management experience.
  • NJ PE required; NY PE preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Experience managing DOT and public infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation design, roadway/bridge projects, drainage, traffic, and construction practices.
  • Experience with NJDOT, NJTA, NYSDOT, or similar transportation agencies preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, contracts, and resource management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and client management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
