A leading multidisciplinary engineering, construction management, and technology consultancy is seeking an experienced VDC Engineer to join its New York City office in Lower Manhattan.
This position will join an established Virtual Design & Construction team delivering technology-driven solutions across complex building and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on BIM/VDC experience and the ability to develop and manage multidisciplinary models across architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and utility systems.
The role provides exposure to BIM, 3D coordination, reality capture, Scan-to-BIM, visualization, project controls, and emerging digital construction technologies while supporting major public and private-sector projects throughout the New York City area.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D BIM models for architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and utility/site infrastructure.
- Manage project model setup and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish linked models, coordinate systems, and multi-phase BIM workflows.
- Implement BIM execution strategies, industry standards, and project-specific modeling requirements.
- Review and interpret contract drawings, specifications, scopes of work, project reports, and schedules.
- Maintain model accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project BIM standards.
- Perform clash detection and lead 3D trade coordination activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, designers, engineers, and trade partners to resolve clashes and modeling issues.
- Lead QA/QC processes for BIM models and digital project deliverables.
- Utilize point clouds, contract drawings, shop drawings, and as-built documentation to develop and verify models.
- Support reality capture and Scan-to-BIM workflows, including LiDAR and SLAM technologies.
- Produce project renderings, visualizations, and 4D simulations when required.
- Conduct site visits and field verification throughout the NYC area.
- Troubleshoot BIM software and platform issues while supporting the adoption of new technologies and workflows.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related AEC discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on BIM/VDC experience.
- Strong Revit modeling experience is required.
- Proficiency with Autodesk platforms including Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
- Strong understanding of BIM coordination and multidisciplinary modeling workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
- Experience with clash detection and 3D trade coordination.
- Knowledge of construction methods and processes.
- Experience working on infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Public-sector project experience is preferred.
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation, ProjectWise, OpenBuildings, and/or OpenRoads is advantageous.
- Experience with LiDAR, laser scanning, point clouds, and Scan-to-BIM workflows is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Revit APIs, Python, and/or Dynamo is a plus.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project and client sites throughout the NYC area.
